At the recent Higher Ground Fair at Laramie many visitors had questions about the legalities of buying raw milk from dairy producers in Wyoming. Here's an excerpt from a recent edition of Cowboy State Daily publication that provides further insight into the controversial issue of raw milk sales.
"A Wyoming lawmaking committee has voted unanimously to let local dairy farmers sell their milk in stores.
Senate File 102 would add dairy to the list of products that local producers can sell using a middle man, or designated agent.
Rep. Tom Walters, R-Casper, altered the bill slightly on Tuesday to let milk farmers sell their wares in farmers market-style shops as well."

As part of a new feature series on Community Food Gardens Across the Nation we're beginning this month by presenting America's oldest garden located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that has captured a lot of attention for its unique approach of attracting urban residents and international visitors.
Bartram's Garden is a 50-acre public garden and National Historic Landmark in Southwest Philadelphia, situated on the banks of the Tidal Schuykill River. Founded in 1728 by botanist John Bartram (1699–1777), it is the oldest botanical garden to survive in North America. The Garden is operated by the non-profit John Bartram Association in coordination with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.
Bartram's Garden has the only recreational access to the Tidal Schuylkill River and its wetlands. The garden acts as an outdoor classroom for learning about the plants and history of Southwest Philadelphia. ~ Wikipedia
Within the grounds of Bartram's Garden is Sankofa Community Farm, a 3.5-acre community-based crop farm, rooted in the experience of the African Diaspora. As a spiritually centered farm, Sankofa prioritizes reverence for Spirit, human beings, and close relationship to the myriad beings beneath and above the soil.
The farm offers over 60 different crops and wild foods for our community’s healing and produces over 15,000 pounds of food annually for local farm stands and other markets.
